From hillfort to temple

1962-1963
Discovery of the first altar stones on the mount.
1964
The deposit of the first altar stones is recorded in the register of Vigo’s Quiñones de León Municipal Museum.
1970
Discovery of the altar stones by the Massó family.
1971
Publication on the part of F. Bouza Brey, J. M.ª Álvarez Blázquez and E. Massó Bolibar of 15 altar stones deposited in Vigo’s Quiñones de León Municipal Museum.
1978
José Suárez Mariño, collaborator of the Museum of Pontevedra, deposited 19 altar stones there.
1994
The epigraphs on the altar stones were included in the volume of the Corpus of Roman Inscriptions in Galicia corresponding to Pontevedra.
2003
First excavation campaign, focused on the area of the temple and funded by the German Archaeological Institute in Madrid and Cangas Town Council.
2004
Second excavation campaign, focused on the area surrounding the temple and the hillfort’s acropolis. Conservation and restoration work.
2005
Third excavation campaign, which extended the sector focused on in the previous campaign on the hillfort’s acropolis, and the opening of a new sector towards where the entrance would be found in later campaigns.
2006
Fourth excavation campaign, extending the intervention of the previous year. Conservation and restoration work.
2007
Fifth excavation campaign, focused on the area of access to the site. Conservation and restoration work.
2008
Sixth excavation campaign, extending the previous sector and which would uncover one of the points of access to the site.
2010-2012
The German Archaeological Institute in Madrid financed different studies focusing on the temple.
2013
Work to clear the mount funded by Pontevedra Provincial Council. Conservation and restoration work. Declared a Site of Cultural Interest.
2014
Work to clear the mount funded by Cangas Town Council.
2015
Placement of replicas of 3 altar stones in their original position.
2017
Work to clear the mount funded by Cangas Town Council.
2018
Archaeological intervention funded by Pontevedra Provincial Council for the conservation and restoration of the last excavated sector.
2019
Publication of the study of all of the altar stones discovered in the excavations by the German Archaeological Institute.
