What is the origin of this place name?

This place is known as Agro de Chan or Agroxas by local residents, who tell of a legend associated with the area. One such resident claims that relatives of theirs from three generations past said that the area was called Agro de Xaz, because it had a “mercado dos mouros”, those mythical, folkloric beings associated with all of Galicia’s archaeological sites. From there comes the name popularly given to the site: Mercado dos Mouros.
